With over a century of stories and memories, Mr. Davis Gary certainly had a story to share. The beloved retired banker passed away last week at a remarkable 104 years old.
The Yazoo County native was a leader in the local banking industry and a community servant who was dedicated to his hometown. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Gary, he was a graduate of Bentonia High School and East Central Junior College.

Wanda Kaye Adams Hilderbrand passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026, with her family by her side. She is in the arms of Jesus surrounded by the ones she missed and loved for so long.
Wanda was born on December 1, 1959, to William “Bill” Adams and Ada Neoma Davis Adams. She graduated from Benton Academy in 1977 where she was named sophisticated senior. She was also a part of the beta club and the high school chorus. She was a devoted member of Scotland Baptist Church where she served in several roles. She was also a homemaker.

Earl Davis Gary, age 104, passed peacefully after a remarkable life marked by faith, service, and devotion to family.
He was born on April 12, 1921, in Yazoo County, Mississippi, to Eugene and Gertrude Johnson Gary. He was known throughout his life simply as Davis, and was affectionately called “DD” by his grandchildren.
In 1943, Davis married Lois Lee Myers, and together they shared 77 years of marriage, building a life rooted in love, commitment, and family. They were blessed with one son, Alan Davis “Butch” Gary (Neetsie).

On Saturday, January 24, 2026, Howard Taft Webb, Jr. passed away in Oxford, Mississippi.
Howard was born in DeWitt, Arkansas, in July of 1945. He was a banker for over 40 years and attended Delta State University and graduated from Belhaven College. He completed the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University. Howard served as Mayor of Louise, Mississippi, for over 20 years, that included a tenure spanning the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s. He was a member of the Mississippi Municipal League, that held an included the accomplishment of Hall of Fame.

The community mourns the passing of Ted Webb, a beloved pharmacist, businessman and community leader who passed away at 93 years old.
“I lost the best man I’ve ever known,” his son, Frank Webb, reflected on social media. “He loved me with his whole heart, and I loved him. He taught me how to be a man, a husband, a father and a pharmacist. I will miss him until I see him again. My loss is Heaven’s gain.”

Thomas Ray Hilderbrand, 77, of Bentonia, passed away on January 20, 2026, at his residence in Bentonia.
He was born on November 21, 1947, to the late Thomas Rolan Hilderbrand and Rena Sadler Hilderbrand. Thomas was a Baptist by faith and worked for many years in the construction industry.
A graveside service was held on January 21 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Yazoo County. Reverend Darby Combs officiated the service. Stricklin King Funeral Home handled all arrangements for the family.

Philip C. (Phil) Williams, 63, of Yazoo City, MS, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026. The visitation will be Monday, January 12, 2026 from 12:30 to 2:00 pm at First Methodist Church in Yazoo City, MS. and service at 2:00 pm.
Phil was born to the late Charles D. Williams, Jr and Marsha Dunn Williams. He was a graduate of Manchester Academy and later received a Bachelor’s degree in Banking and Finance and an MBA in Finance and Economics from his beloved Ole Miss. He was also a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at LSU.
