Willie Edward Hill was born in Yazoo City, Mississippi, to the late Lizzie Fears-Hill and Eddie Hill, Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents and his only sister, Eddie Lee McCullum.
Willie entered eternal rest on December 26, 2025. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 51 years, Earlene McGinnis Hill; five children: Rhonda Coleman, Tameika Brown (David), Kizzie Hill, Adrian Hill, Sr., and Christopher Hill (Lashanda); ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He also leaves a few special close friends: Larry Cage, Mickey Leavy, and Willie Jones.
On behalf of the Hill family, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the community of Yazoo City, the Yazoo City Police Department, and the many individuals who showed us extraordinary kindness, compassion, and support during our time of bereavement following the passing of our loved one, Willie Hill.
During one of the most difficult moments our family has faced, your presence, professionalism, and genuine care did not go unnoticed. From acts of service and words of encouragement to prayers, calls, messages, and quiet gestures of support, each expression meant more to us than we can adequately put into words.
The respect shown to our Willie’s legacy was deeply meaningful. Willie Hill loved this community, and it brings our family comfort to know that love was returned so graciously. The support we received reflected the true spirit of Yazoo—one rooted in unity, compassion, and service to others.
We are sincerely thankful for each person and organization that stood with us. Your kindness will forever remain in our hearts, and we are deeply grateful for the way you helped us through this season.
We want to extend an extra special thank you to Knight and Strong Funeral Home, Rev. Strong, Jessie Jones of Home and Garden Florist, Senator Charles Thomas and Family, the L.T. Miller and Herbert Scott Community Center, St. Francis Class of 1970, The Teamsters, Smoked with Soul Caters, Yazoo County Human Resource Agency, Yazoo Cleaners, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Rev. Willie E. Smith, and Terrance Freeman.
With gratitude and respect, The Hill Family
