Mavericks win game one of the playoffs

The Mavericks of Manchester Academy kicked off the postseason with a 15-10 win over Winona Christian in game one of their first-round series.
It was a high-scoring affair in which the Stars struck first, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead.

Daniel was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Samuel Wesley and Marie Powell.

A Yazoo County dispatcher was arrested this week in connection with the 911 dispatcher center robbery, which investigators said was an inside job.
Terrance Freeman, 27, was charged with accessory to armed robbery.

Yazoo baseball legend Jerry Moses dies

Gerald Moses, who played nine years of Major League Baseball and is remembered as one of the greatest athletes in Yazoo history, died Tuesday at age 71.
Jerry was born on Aug. 9, 1946 in Yazoo City to the late Samuel S. Moses and Mary Frances Moses.

Additional charge added for Yazoo murder suspect

Agents of the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation have added a first degree murder charge against Yazoo City quadruple murder suspect Briddell Barber.

Barber was charged with capital murder on Monday. The first degree charge is for the first victim, and the capital murder charge is for the remaining victims.

Yazoo man brutally attacked by three unknown individuals

A Yazoo City man is recovering from injuries following an attack by three unknown suspects last week.
Terry Gann, chief investigator with the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department, said the attack occurred last Thursday on Shady Drive. He was able to get a statement from the victim Tuesday morning, following his release from the hospital.

County commits $4K to improve softball fields
