Sam Olden
Sam Olden, Jr., died at home August 12, 2022, at the age of 103. He was born on a cotton plantation four miles up in the Delta from Yazoo City on March 27, 1919, the son of Samuel B. Olden and Catherine Clark Olden, both natives of Yazoo City, whose families had been in Yazoo County since the 1830s and early 1840s.

Robert “Robby” Wayne Carter, 53, passed away on Jan. 16, 2023 at his home.
Funeral services will be held on Jan. 19 at 10 a.m. at Central Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Central Holmes Cemetery under the direction of Stricklin King Funeral Home.

Yazoo City man found guilty of six counts of statutory rape
A Yazoo City man will be sentenced next Thursday after a jury found him guilty of multiple counts of statutory rape this week.
Jimmy Allen was found guilty of six counts of statutory rape in a Yazoo County Circuit Court on Tuesday. Allen's sentencing will be held on April 14.

Thomas Randolph Hines, Sr., was born on April 23, 1956, in Yazoo City, MS, and went home to be with his Savior on October 15, 2022 in Jackson, MS.
He was the youngest of five children born to Robert Desha Hines, Jr. and Sara Rainer Hines.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Juveniles charged with breaking into car dealership
Yazoo City police officers arrested two juveniles and recovered three firearms after the suspects allegedly broke into a local car dealership.
Police Chief Kenny Hampton said the two juveniles broke into American Auto on Jerry Clower Boulevard, stealing several vehicle keys.
