Yazoo County opens on the hardwood

The Yazoo County Panthers are off to a 1-2 start after defeating Hartfield Academy, 69-61 over the weekend at the Holmes County Classic held at Holmes Community College.
The Panthers opened the season with a narrow 62-60 loss to defending Class 5A champion Canton and a 70-60 loss to St. Joe.

County leaders question warden’s tiny home, which now sits empty

An empty tiny home at the local county jail that was originally intended to provide living quarters for the warden could be used to provide vocational training for the facility’s inmates.
But after the warden admitted she is not living or staying at the home, one supervisor questioned why it was even purchased in the first place.
