Sheriff, police department now both have drones

The Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department welcomed the recent arrival of a drone. The recent arrival now means that both the sheriff's office and the Yazoo City Police Department each have additional tools, such as drones, to assist with search and rescue efforts as well as assisting in suspect pursuits.

Housing juvenile offenders at the local county jail continues to be an issue with jail officials confirming “an incident” recently occurred at the Yazoo County Regional Correctional Facility.
Warden Keith Brown brought the matter to the table during a recent Yazoo County Board of Supervisors meeting.

Dollar store armed robbery suspect arrested

A suspect in connection with an armed robbery at a local dollar store last month was arrested by officers this weekend.
Ronald O’Banner was charged with armed robbery last Monday following his arrest on unrelated charges at Wal-Mart, according to Police Chief Terry Gann.
