A suspect in connection with an armed robbery at a local dollar store last month was arrested by officers this weekend.
Ronald O’Banner was charged with armed robbery last Monday following his arrest on unrelated charges at Wal-Mart, according to Police Chief Terry Gann.
“He was arrested at Wal-Mart on unrelated charges, and he was positively identified by security surveillance footage in connection to the dollar store robbery,” Gann said. “He confessed to the armed robbery as well.”
Gann said the armed robbery occurred on April 8 at the Dollar General branch on Broadway.
“He came into the store with what appeared to be an assault rifle,” Gann said. “He demanded money and left with about $300. No one was injured during the incident.”
Thanks to security surveillance and what Gann describes as “old-school detective work,” O’Banner was identified as the suspect in the incident.
