The Yazoo County Lady Panthers scored eight runs in the third inning which helped them defeat district foe Amanda Elzy 15-0 Monday afternoon in three innings.
Bella Everett drew a walk, scoring a run, Anna Kiley Leal drew a walk, scoring a run, Tommy Lynn Gardner singled, scoring one run, Jaylin Foster singled, scoring one run, Emma Gardner hit into a fielder’s choice, but two runs scored, and Madison Gardner singled, scoring one run.
The Lady Panthers got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Lilly Andrews doubled to centerfield.
Gardner doubled to left field and Remi Rutherford walked, each scoring a run.
YCHS would add to their lead in the bottom of the second when an error scored two runs and Gardner singled to score a run.
Andrews stepped in the circle and picked up the win on the mound for the Lady Panthers.
The starter allowed zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out seven and walking none including an immaculate third inning where she struck out the side on nine pitches.
At the plate Andrews went 3-for-3 to lead the Lady Panthers.
Gardner and Foster each drove in two runs for Yazoo County. The Lady Panthers showed patience at the plate, amassing six walks in the game.
Yazoo County ran wild on the basepaths, piling up 14 stolen bases in the contest.
Leal and Gardner each stole multiple bases for the Lady Panthers.
In other action last week, the Lady Panthers suffered a 5-0 loss to Cleveland Central, defeated Riverside by a score of 10-0, had a pair of wins over Humphreys County (16-0 and 15-0), and fell to Choctaw County 7-1.
In the victory over Riverside, Leal was dominant on the mound, ringing up 10 strikeouts while allowing just two hits and zero runs while walking two.
Leal also picked up the in on the mound in YCHS’ 16-0 victory over Humphreys County.
The hurler gave up zero hits and zero runs over three innings, while striking out nine and walking one.
Yazoo County put the game away early against the Cowgirls, plating 16 runs in the first inning.
