Beginning in 1976, “Yazoo Day” offers Yazoo natives near and far the opportunity to return home to Yazoo City for a weekend of family-filled fun and celebration.

Yazoo County receives road, bridge grant

Yazoo County will soon receive $3 million to assist with the construction and repair costs to Lake George Bridge and $500,000 to assist the county with repairs and improvements of roads and bridges.
Senator Joseph Thomas Sr., and Senator Briggs Hopson lobbied for the funds during the 2023 Legislative Session.

Benton Academy senior Nathan Wilson was recently selected as the school’s STAR Student. Star Students are selected on the basis of academic excellence. Both American College Test scores and scholastic averages are compared to determine the school’s STAR Student. Wilson selected Jackie Chandler as STAR Teacher.
