Yazoo County will soon receive $3 million to assist with the construction and repair costs to Lake George Bridge and $500,000 to assist the county with repairs and improvements of roads and bridges.
Senator Joseph Thomas Sr., and Senator Briggs Hopson lobbied for the funds during the 2023 Legislative Session.
“Anytime Senator Hopson and I can do so, we plan to keep money coming here to maintain the roads and that critical infrastructure, including Lake George Bridge, so it never falls into disrepair,” Senator Thomas said.
The money will be released to the county in coming months.
