Voters will head to the polls next week to determine Yazoo County’s chancery clerk.
The special election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 4., with all precincts open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
The candidates include April Adams, who has served as interim clerk following the resignation of former Chancery Clerk Quint Carver in December of 2024. The second candidate is Leticia Green-Carmichael.
County Circuit Clerk Robert Coleman said the winner of next week’s special election will also hold the chancery clerk’s post until the county’s next general election, which will be held in 2027.
A new change with the upcoming special election will be the combination of two voting precincts.
The West Bentonia precinct will be combined with the Bentonia East precinct, which is currently located at the Bentonia City Hall.
The two voting precincts in the Bentonia community were combined due to one of the voting location’s buildings gradually falling into disrepair.
