The Indians of Yazoo City kept their offensive momentum going with a 13-2 win over Gentry High School on Tuesday.
The offense for the Indians in recent games has been a huge factor in recent turnaround. They scored 13 runs on 14 hits against Gentry.
Yazoo City struck first in the bottom of the first inning with a run to take a 1-0 lead.
In the top of the second, walks and errors helped the Rams gain a 2-1 lead, which caused Ben Tillman to pull Cordarious Brown for Darius Taylor, who shut the Rams down.
And in the bottom of the inning, Yazoo City tied things back up with a run to make it a 2-2 game.
The Indians regained a lead in the bottom of the third inning by scoring two runs, making it a 4-2 game.
After shutting down Gentry again in the top of the fourth inning, Yazoo City extended their lead to a commanding 7-2 with three more runs.
Yazoo City finally put the game away for good when they scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth to make it 13-2, which was the final score.
The Indians held Gentry to two runs on four hits and six walks.
Taylor earned the win for Yazoo City for his relief effort. He threw 3.2 shutout innings, giving up only one hit with two walks and six strikeouts.
Cordarious Brown pitched 1.1 innings, and gave up two runs (1 ER) on one hit and six walks with no strikeouts.
The Indians had a lot of production from a lot of different players in their first conference win.
At the plate, Taylor also went 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored.
Jacques Grady had a 3-for-3 day at the plate with two runs scored and one RBI.
Senior Terrance Reese and freshman Kory Price went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Jacques Gates went 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored.
Isaiah Jones had a 1-for-3 game with two RBIs and one run scored.
Robert Carpenter led the Indians with three RBIs despite only having one single.
