Yazoo County’s Lady Panthers fell 9-2 to Magee in the first game of their second-round playoff series.
It was their first loss of the playoffs and only their second loss in their last eight games.
The Lady Panthers jumped on top out early with a run in the bottom of the first inning to give them a 1-0 lead.
In the top of the second inning, Magee got on board with a run of their own to tie it up at 1-1.
Destiny Epps hit a double in the bottom of the third inning to give the Lady Panthers a runner in scoring position.
A Tailyn Esco double brought home Destiny Epps to allow the Lady Panthers to regain a 2-1 lead.
Unfortunately for Coach Grant Andrews and the Lady Panthers, things went downhill in the fourth inning, as the Lady Trojans put up four runs, highlighted by a 3-run home run by Magee’s Carolyn Robertson, to take a 5-2 lead.
After a scoreless fifth inning, the Lady Trojans tacked on another run to extend their lead to 6-2.
The Lady Trojans put the finishing touches on their win in the top of the seventh inning with a three-run barrage, bringing the final score to 9-2.
Game number two was played on Thursday, but it was not upon completion by press time.
