Benton Academy’s football season came to an end on Friday night when they fell 42-14 on Friday night to Sylva Bay Academy.
The loss dropped Benton’s overall record to 0-10 for the year.
Sylva Bay started the game hot and stayed that way throughout the contest. They outscored Benton 21-0 in the first quarter of play.
The second quarter mirrored the first quarter. They once again put up 21 points thanks to two rushing touchdowns and a pick-6 to extend their lead to 42-0.
In the second half of action, Benton finally fought back and landed some punches.
They rushed in a touchdown in the third quarter and passed for one in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 42-14.
Unfortunately, their comeback fell short when the clock hit 0:00.
The game ended with Benton Academy falling 42-14, and their season ended with it.
It was a difficult season for the Raiders.
The numbers were few, and players were forced to shuffle around to fill voids that may not have been natural for them.
Still, they persevered and fought to the very end.
