Mavericks improve to 8-0 with win at Delta Academy

Manchester Academy’s domination in the 8-man football ranks continued on Friday night when they trounced Delta Academy 36-8.

The win improved Manchester’s record to 8-0 on the year.

Manchester accumulated 420 yards of total offense in the dominant victory, 262 rushing yards and 158 passing yards.

Upton Hitt went 5-for-7 passing for 158 yards with two touchdowns.

Senior Blake Coghlan led the Mavericks in receiving with four catches for 78 yards and a touchdown. Coghlan also had a team-high six tackles and three sacks.

Jon Riley Poe caught one pass for an 80-yard touchdown. Poe also tacked on 51 rushing yards on three carries and had three total tackles.

Michael Williams had five carries for a team-high 80 yards with three touchdowns.

Parks Poe had five carries for 52 yards and racked up four total tackles

Dylan Dendy had three carries for 25 yards and had three total tackles.

Hayes Bardwell tacked on four tackles and two sacks, while Tyler Bardwell had three tackles.

Hayes Kyle had a fumble recovery in the victory.

Ty Kilpatrick picked off yet another pass.

Next up for Manchester is Hebron Christian, the second of a three-game road stretch to end the regular season.

Hebron Christian is 1-8 on the season after falling 48-6 to DeSoto on Friday night.

Kickoff at Hebron is set for 7 p.m.
