Anderson and Whitworth to cheer for MSU

This fall, two Benton Academy graduates will be on the sidelines cheering for the Southeastern Conference Mississippi State University Bulldogs.  Logan Anderson and Nolan Whitworth were recently chosen as members of the 2019-2020 cheer squad.  After a grueling 2 day try-out process and 2 series of cuts, they knew they had it made.

Both are accustomed to cheering for the Bulldogs.  For the past two years they have cheered for Holmes Community College, whose mascot also just happens to be a Bulldog.

Logan is the son of Trish and Bubba Anderson.  He has been attending State football games since he was in the second grade.  "I'm just excited to be cheering for my favorite team," says Logan.  He is majoring in civil engineering.

Nolan is the son of Crystal Gray and Chad Whitworth.  He has always been more of an Ole Miss Rebel fan, but now he says, "I'm a Bulldog through and through."  Nolan is majoring in criminology.

They will begin the first of August what is referred to as "Hail Week" where they will attend two weeks of getting to know other squad members, being matched with a cheer partner, and beginning to learn their routines.

Both Logan and Nolan are looking forward to being on the campus at Mississippi State.  They look forward to this year's season opener and are excited about cheering on the sidelines at Scott Field.
