A woman now sits behind bars in the same jail she tried to smuggle contraband into last weekend.
Tiffany Howell, 36, was charged with two counts of introducing contraband into a facility, felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana in a vehicle on state property and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance.
Chief Investigator Terry Gann, with the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department, said Howell was visiting state inmate Christopher Harris at the Yazoo County Regional Correction Facility.
“While in the visitation room, officers noticed that she was real fidgety,” Gann said. “Two officers then observed her passing something wrapped in a brown paper towel to the inmate.”
When the officers called for backup, Gann said Howell overheard them.
“She grabbed the bundle and ran to the bathroom where she tried to flush it,” Gan said. “The officers were able to retrieve the contraband.”
Gann said the bundle held Spice (synthetic marijuana) and prescription pills.
“Another bundle identical to what she tried to smuggle into the jail was also found inside her vehicle outside as well,” Gann added.
Howell remained in jail as of press time.
