Investigators are close to making an arrest in the recent theft of nine azalea plants from a Yazoo County woman’s lawn.
A suspect has been identified thanks to video footage from a home surveillance system, said Chief Investigator Terry Gann of the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department.
“Lisa Johnston contacted us with video of a white female walking to her lawn and taking nine potted azalea plants,” Gann said. “It was about $450 worth of plants.”
Gann said investigators were at first unable to identify the suspect. But thanks to multiple calls to Crimestoppers following a television broadcast, a suspect has been identified.
“We have identify the female, and we are in the process of getting a warrant,” Gann said. “I anticipate an arrest very soon.”
The suspect will be charged with petit larceny and trespassing.
