Two young men died after an accident early Friday morning on Fletcher’s Chapel Road.
Hayden Tyler Whitworth, 18, and Taylor Ryan Stevens, 17, are being mourned by many in the community after a one-car crash took both of their lives.
A truck driver noticed the car, which was driven by Stevens, at 4:29 a.m. Friday and called 911. Emergency responders found both occupants trapped inside the car. The vehicle left the road on the left side and struck a tree.
Whitworth was pronounced dead at the scene, and Stevens was airlifted to University Medical Center in Jackson. Stevens died Saturday morning.
Yazoo County Coroner Ricky Shivers said that neither victim was wearing a seatbelt. Shivers said it appears that excessive speed contributed to the crash.
