A homeowner was surprised when two burglars kicked his door in early Tuesday morning – but he was prepared.
Sheriff Jake Sheriff said a juvenile suspect was shot through the shoulder after he and a juvenile accomplice invaded a home on Old Highway 49 Tuesday morning.
The victim was in his bed in a bedroom at the back of the home when the suspects enter. He had a .380 handgun on his nightstand, which he used to shoot one of the suspects.
Deputies later arrested both suspects at the hospital. They are now both in custody at the Juvenile Detention Center.
Investigators later determined that the two suspects were also involved in a home burglary on Waller Road.
That information allowed deputies to obtain a search warrant for a residence on South Monroe Street to look for stolen guns.
Several stolen guns were found along with about half a pound of marijuana and numerous prescription pills. Some of the guns recovered were stolen from the home on Waller Road.
Johnny “J.J.” Harris was arrested and faces multiple charges.
