The second suspect in a rash of ATV and trailer thefts turned himself in to deputies Thursday.
Xavius Jones was wanted by the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department following an incident earlier this week in which Brandin Jackson, 25, was charged with possession of stolen property earlier this week.
Jones is charged with two felony counts of possession of stolen property, failure to stop for a law enforcement signal, resisting arrest and possession of stolen property.
There were seven reports of stolen four-wheelers and trailers over the last few weeks.
Deputies arrested Jackson in connection with the case after he and Jones fled from the authorities on stolen four-wheelers on Judkins Road. After crashing on Bell Road, Jones fled on foot.
Investigators searched Jones’ home and recovered one stolen four-wheeler.
Both Jones and Jackson remained in the Yazoo County Jail at press time.
Sheriff Jake Sheriff said he was proud of his deputies for catching the suspects while on patrol.
Sheriff said property crimes traditionally increase this time of year, and he urges residents to be aware of any unusual activity in their neighborhoods.
“Call us, and we will check it out,” Sheriff said.
