Yazoo County has been awarded a state grant that will generate more jobs at a local business and fund renovations of the industrial facility.
The county-owned building that houses AMCO Manufacturing Company will be assisted with roofing repairs and job creation thanks to a $150,000 Small Municipalities and Limited Population Counties Grant from the Mississippi Development Authority Community Service Division.
“The Yazoo County Board of Supervisors and Yazoo County Economic Development District are extremely pleased to receive this needed funding and would like to express our appreciation to the Mississippi Development Authority Community Services Division, Governor’s Office and a special thanks to State Senators Briggs Hopson and Buck Clarke and Haley Barbour for their support of our application,” said Cobie Collins, president of the Yazoo County Board of Supervisors.
AMCO, located on South Industrial Parkway in Yazoo City, is a manufacturer of Mississippi-made quality agricultural tillage equipment. AMCO currently employs 24 full-time workers of which approximately 75 percent live in Yazoo County.
The Yazoo County Board of Supervisors has committed a required 20 percent match or $30,000 toward the roofing repairs.
The grant application was prepared by the Yazoo County Economic Development District and submitted in August 2018.
