Investigators urge the public to pay attention in their neighborhoods for suspicious activity, following a rash of burglaries within Yazoo County.
Terry Gann, chief investigator with the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department, said there have been a number of burglaries reported, particularly in areas close to major highways.
As of press time, no arrests had been made. But Gann said the department is following a few leads in their investigation.
“We have noticed the homes being burglarized have been close to highways,” Gann said. “Most have been reported along Highway 49, with a few on Highway 433.”
Gann said he thinks most of the burglaries are related, but there are a few that are possibly not connected. He said the majority of items stolen include guns, jewelry and electronics.
“We are asking that people who are home all day to keep an eye out within their neighborhoods,” Gann said. “Watch each other’s houses. If you see any suspicious activity or vehicles, give us a call.”
To report an activity, call the sheriff’s department at 746-5611.
