Local restaurant owner Johnny Crow recently resigned from his post of chairman of the Yazoo County Convention and Visitors Bureau board.
Crow’s letter of resignation was submitted last month with the post remaining opening as of press time.
“I have enjoyed my time serving on this board and feel that it is time to step down,” Crow said. “I will continue to support (the CVB) in my everyday efforts to promote tourism in Yazoo County.”
The CVB board is appointed by the Yazoo County Board of Supervisors. Supervisor David Berry appointed Crow to the board a few years ago.
“I really hate to see him resign because he did such a good job,” Berry said. “Financially, the CVB is doing better than ever. I hate to see him leave that board.”
Berry said he will possibly bring a new appointment to the county board at its next meeting.
Shanitra Finley, executive director of the CVB, said she enjoyed working with Crow during his tenure.
“I hate to see him go,” she said. “He was great to work with, but I know he has other obligations.”
The CVB board chairman post remained vacant as of Wednesday since no co-chairman had been assigned to the council.
