The Yazoo City Housing Authority has removed its operations from the Gateway Community Development Corporation building.
The Housing Authority has returned to its former location at the Lindsey Lawn Apartment Complex.
Following the termination of Alpresteon Billings, former HA director who still serves with Gateway, the HA signage was removed from the Gateway building at 941 Calhoun St.
“The reason we may be rescinding our vote to move back over there is because they are forcing us out basically,” said Veronica Starling, HA board member. “They are not going to honor the agreement we had in place that we only know that (former director Betty) Reed signed before she passed. Now that we have got rid of the executive director (Billings) who was here and the attorneys that they have now, they are forcing us out of the building and making it a hostile work environment.”
During the HA board meeting, board attorney Lilli Evans-Bass said the discussion of the lease agreement should be had within executive session.
