Deputies have recently made eight arrests, with the majority being juveniles, in connection with two burglaries in Yazoo County.
Investigator Terry Gann, with the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department, said burglaries tend to increase during the Christmas season. He said two adults and six juveniles have been arrested in two separate house burglaries.
The first burglary was reported at 12473 Highway 433 South in Benton.
“Four juveniles broke into the home,” Gann said. “I tracked them through the woods to one of the juvenile’s home.”
The next morning, Gann said that juvenile was questioned. Three of the other juveniles also came to the sheriff’s department, where they confessed to the burglary.
“The fourth juvenile was picked up prior to that,” Gann added.
Gann said two adults were also charged in connection to the burglary.
Kulyn Thrasher, 18, was charged with accessory to burglary and four counts of involving a juvenile with a felony.
Justice Allen, 19, was charged with burglary, possession of stolen property and four counts of involving a juvenile with a felony.
All four juveniles were charged with burglary.
The second burglary was reported last Saturday at 6585 Wildwood Rd.
“Two juveniles broke into that home and stole $100 worth of quarters in a bag, $3,700 and five dollars in cash, an Xbox and other items,” Gann said.
Gann said the juveniles were apprehended shortly after the burglary.
“One of the suspects dropped his cell phone at the scene,” Gann said. “His picture was on the phone, and the victims knew the subject.”
Deputies went to the suspect’s home, where his mother identified some articles of clothing that were hidden in the woods near the crime scene.
“The money was also found in his bedroom,” Gann said.
Both juveniles were charged with burglary.
