Officials with the Bank of Yazoo are warning customers that a phone scam is beginning to circulate.
Van Ray, president of BYC, said he believes the scam began Wednesday evening.
“So far, I have only heard of one incident,” Ray said. “But that is one too many.”
Ray said customers may be receiving a phone call from scammers posing to be representatives of Bank of Yazoo. The caller ID reads “Bank of Yazoo,” and the caller is inquiring about Bank of Yazoo credit card accounts.
“Do not provide any information to the caller,” Ray said. “Bank of Yazoo will never call and ask for your personal account information.”
Ray said bank employees would never ask for credit card account information because they already have it on file.
“If we do call from the bank, it would be an employee you know who obviously already knows your information,” Ray said. “We would have good information already to identify you and us.”
If you receive a phone call of this nature, please hang up and notify BYC immediately at 746-5421.
