The Yazoo City Ministerial Association will be hosting a prayer gathering on the steps of the Yazoo County Courthouse next month.
The prayer gathering will be held on Oct. 15, beginning at noon, with ministers and faith leaders. The theme of the gathering will be geared towards 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
The Yazoo County Board of Supervisors granted permission for the prayer gathering to Pastor Ken Lynch, vice president of the ministerial association, who appeared with his request at Friday’s meeting.
“We need to seek His face as a community at a place that is the people’s place…the courthouse,” Lynch said. “Prayer unites us and brings His blessing upon us. This is not a political meeting or gathering. We are going to be there to pray the scripture.”
