A man has been charged in connection with a fatal automobile accident that occurred last month in Yazoo City.
Allen McGee, 42, was charged with two counts of driving under the influence causing death and one count of driving under the influence with aggravated assault by vehicle.
Artis Harris, with the Yazoo City Police Department, said that the department’s investigation into the accident uncovered that McGee was under the influence of alcohol.
Yazoo County Coroner Ricky Shivers said two Yazoo City residents were pronounced dead on the scene following life-saving efforts in a two-vehicle accident in early March. Shivers said the accident occurred around 10:45 p.m. at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Seventh Street.
Jordan Patterson, 23, and Michael Dominek Cole, 27, were pronounced dead on the scene from multi-system trauma.
“Upon arrival of the Yazoo City Fire Department, they saw a car on its side and a pickup truck with front end damage,” Shivers said, in a previous interview. “EMS arrived and immediately began CPR and other life-saving efforts on the driver of the car. Another passenger of the car also immediately received efforts as well.”
Harris said McGee was also charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
“A gun was found inside his truck, and he was the only person in the truck at the time of accident,” Harris said.
Harris said the investigation, however, continues.
“We are still collecting evidence as the days continue,” he said.
