For the second week in a row Benton Academy running back Caden Stevens punished an opposing defense with his hard nosed running and deceptive speed.
The senior tailback was either powering through the trenches or racing around the ends Friday night against Lee Academy, racking up 339 yards and two touchdowns while leading Benton to a 41-12 victory.
When Stevens gets in a groove like he was Friday night, Benton is a touch team to beat and Raider head coach Kenny Burton knows it.
“Caden is a hard runner and I love to call his number,” says Burton.
Stevens number was called early and often against the Colts as he rushed 29 times.
The Raiders rushed for 432 yards and passed for 59 yards to total 491 yards on the night.
Rye Yeates also had eight carries for 81 yards and a touchdown.
Austin Moore was the leading receiver for the Raiders with three receptions for 42 yards and two touchdowns. Landon Lowery had one 13-yard touchdown reception.
Defensively, Yeates led the way with 10 tackles followed by Lowery with five.
Said Burton, “Rye was all over the field making plays for us tonight.”
Benton returns to action Friday night when they host the Winona Christian Stars.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
