Benton Academy sophomore Brynn Blackstock followed up a career-high last week with another monster performance Monday night in another Lady Raider win.
The scoring dynamo scored 30 points to lead BA to a 20-point win over Mt. Salus.
After posting a 16-14 first quarter, the Lady Raiders added a little cushion to their lead with an 18-9 second quarter to lead 34-23 at the half.
Benton continued to pour it on in the third quarter, 23-12, and cruised to the victory with a 12-14 fourth frame.
Isabella Maygar followed Blackstock in double figures with 14.
Ana Paige Beith had seven, Kaye Louise Purvis and Lindsey Hogue each had six, Sara Bailey Jackson had four and Sydney Davis had two.
Benton 73, Mt. Salus 78
In boy’s action, the Raiders came oh-so close to their first win of the season with the five-point loss to Mt. Salus.
The Raiders led after one period of play (13-12) and after posting a 19-22 second quarter trailed by just two, 34-32 at halftime.
Mt. Salus would outscore Benton 25-19 in the third and despite a 22-19 BA fourth quarter the Raiders couldn’t overcome the deficit.
Clayton Saxton led the way for Benton with 22 points, followed by Colin Washington with 17, and Bryce Ables with 13.
Lawson Nichols and Garrett Vandevere both had nine and Daniel Washington rounded out the scoring with three.
Benton hits the road Thursday when they travel to St. Aloysius.
