The shooting death of a man in rural Yazoo County last week has been ruled as accidental.
Brandon Gallagher died from a gunshot wound earlier this month upon his arrival at a local hospital.
Terry Gann, chief investigator with the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department, said the shooting investigation came to a close this week.
“The shooting was ruled as accidental,” Gann said. “Through a combination of witness statements and a reenactment at the scene with gun positioning, we discovered it was an accidental discharge.”
Gallagher was shot in the knee, hitting an artery, during the accident, which occurred at a home on Strickland Road. He later died at the Baptist Memorial Hospital-Yazoo.
