The Yazoo City Indians had the momentum and the lead midway through last week’s district tilt with the Louisville Wildcats before a controversial call put a halt to the action.
The call, which ultimately went in favor of the Indians, proved to be a pyrrhic victory, as the delay in the action swapped the game’s momentum from the Indians to the visiting Wildcats.
An Indian baserunner, initially called out while stealing second base, ended up being safe after the outfield official reversed his call, much to the dismay of the Louisville head coach.
After a heated argument the Wildcats eventually got out of the inning and looked to set things straight in the top of the fifth inning.
Trailing 3-2, the Wildcats went on a 7-run rally, highlighted by a solo home run, to take the lead and eventually a 14-3 victory.
The Indians were led at the plate by Jeremy Taylor, Melvin Robinson, and Jalen Sheriff.
Maleak Brown was the losing pitcher on the mound.
