Yazoo County deputies recently arrested two suspects in separate incidents on warrants ranging from attempted murder to a multitude of out-of-state crimes.
Deputies served a warrant last Wednesday afternoon for the arrest of Jaquan Cannon, 21, for attempt to commit an offense, including murder, according to Sheriff Jeremy McCoy. Cannon was arrested at Shady Lane Apartments and was additionally charged with carrying a concealed weapon upon his apprehension.
McCoy said the arrest stems from a 2021 incident.
“Cannon was also charged with violation of the conceal carry law, as he was in possession of a handgun in his front pocket, at the time of his arrest,” McCoy said.
In a separate incident, a routine traffic stop for a seatbelt violation led to the arrest of a Louise man wanted for several Wisconsin warrants.
Terry Bacon, 33, had several warrants for his arrest, including escaping, resisting an officer, criminal property damage, and several misdemeanor bail jumping.
“Bacon was also in possession of 15 grams of marijuana at the time of the stop,” McCoy said. “Bacon is currently being charged with seatbelt violation and simple possession of marijuana, pending his extradition.”
