The suspect wanted in connection to a local apartment complex shooting earlier this month has turned himself in to authorities.
Owen Young, of Yazoo City, has been charged with aggravated assault.
Det. Nolan Warrington, with the Yazoo City Police Department, said Owen, accompanied by his attorney, turned himself in yesterday around noon.
"We had previously reached out to the suspect's mother to find his location, when she told us that we needed to speak to his attorney," Warrington said. "Upon negotiating with his attorney, he turned himself in to our department."
The shooting occurred on Oct. 5 about 4:16 p.m. at Broadmoor Village Apartments in Yazoo City.
Warrington added that the victim of the shooting has been released from the hospital.
"We are still conducting an investigation to figure out what led to this shooting," Warrington said. "We do know that the suspect asked the victim for a ride to the apartment complex, which the victim obliged. Upon exiting the vehicle, the suspect fired shots at the victim, who also fired shots in return before driving himself to the hospital."
