State officials say SR1 College Preparatory and STEM Academy, a charter school, has one day’s worth of cash on hand. School leaders say that’s not true.
The Mississippi Charter School Authorizer Board is starting the process of revoking the charter of SR1 College Preparatory and STEM Academy. State officials say the Canton school has a day’s worth of money on hand.

Blues by Starlight 2025, benefiting the Boys and Girls Club of Central Mississippi, was held October 16th at the Mississippi Museum of Art. The event featured the legendary Willie Clayton along with a night full of live music, chef tastings, and community impact. Sophomores through seniors attended the annual Jackson Academy College Fair by grade, speaking with representatives about admission processes, entrance requirements, majors, activities, and student life. Jackson Academy’s K3 classes took part in the second Annual Turkey Trot, a Thanksgiving-themed, station-to-station race. With support from JA Cross Country athletes and Student Ambassadors students completed the course while parents, teachers, and Lower School students cheered them on.
