Attorney General Lynn Fitch announced the recent sentencing of Colby Isaiah Johnson of Waveland, Mississippi, for one count of Possession of Child Exploitation Material. This case was investigated and prosecuted by the Mississippi Attorney General's Office. It originated with a Cybertip and investigators found over 1,000 images and videos of child sexual abuse material on his devices.
“Our incredible team of investigators and prosecutors is committed to holding
individuals who exploit children accountable for their crimes,” said Attorney General Lynn Fitch. "If you suspect a child is being exploited or abused, please report it to my office. Together, we can make Mississippi a safer place for everyone. Your tip could save a life."
On November 6, 2025, Hancock County Circuit Court Judge Christopher L. Schmidt sentenced Johnson to serve twenty years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) for Possession of Child Exploitation Material. Johnson will be required to serve his sentence day-for-day without the possibility of parole. As a previously convicted sex offender, Johnson was already required to register as a sex offender.
