Attorney General Lynn Fitch announced that her office led Mississippi’s participation in a national human trafficking operation that spanned 15 states and included over 150 law enforcement agencies. In Mississippi, the operation in Jackson led to one felony arrest and recovery of six victims.
“Human trafficking is not confined by state borders and our response to shouldn’t be either,” said Attorney General Fitch. “Developing partnerships with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies both within Mississippi and across the country is a priority for the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office, and we are proud to be a part of a network of dedicated law enforcement agencies that work to end human trafficking.”
Operation Coast to Coast was started in 2024 as an initiative of Human Trafficking Training Center (HTTC) in an effort to spur a nationwide response to trafficking. During this multistate operation, which was conducted October 16, 2025, Mississippi Attorney General’s Office investigators and prosecutors worked with federal, state, and local law enforcement partners to make arrests and recover victims. Nationally, this operation resulted in 34 arrests and the recovery of 68 victims. In Mississippi, the following agencies participated:
- Alcoholic Beverage Control
- Capitol Police Department
- Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
- Hinds County Sheriff’s Department
- Jackson Police Department
In addition to law enforcement partners, the Center for Violence Prevention provided services and treatment to the victims that were recovered during this operation.
Since launching Be the Solution, Attorney General Fitch’s office has trained 588 officers from across the state. The Attorney General’s human trafficking team has led 61 multi-jurisdictional operations that have led to the rescue of 380 victims and 198 arrests, as well as countless leads in the effort to disrupt and stop trafficking operations in Mississippi.
