A Yazoo City man was recently sentenced to 27 years, with 12 to serve, behind bars in a statutory rape case that was investigated and prosecuted by the state attorney general’s office.
Adrian Hill, of Yazoo City, was sentenced on Aug. 4 in Yazoo County Circuit Court by Judge Jannie Lewis-Blackmon.
Hill was sentenced to 27 years in custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, with twelve years to serve and five years’ supervised probation upon release. He will be required to serve his sentence day-for-day without the possibility of parole.
Hill was further ordered to pay $1,000 to the Mississippi Children’s Trust Fund and $1,000 to the Victims of Human Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation Fund. He will also have to register as a sex offender upon release.
Attorney General Lynn Fitch’s office investigated and prosecuted the case.
"Sexual assault is a violation of the most intimate nature, robbing victims of the deepest sense of privacy and harming them in ways that will haunt them for a lifetime," said Fitch. "My office is dedicated to protecting these victims and making our communities safer by holding these perpetrators accountable. Thank you to the incredible work of our investigators and prosecutors for ensuring that justice was served."
