A Yazoo County man charged with grand larceny said he is “fighting the charges,” adding that he was falsely accused of stealing items from a home he shared with his “common law wife.”
Lynwood “Tony” Kane contacted The Herald concerning an article that was previously printed, which stated that he was charged with grand larceny.
“I lived at the home with my common law wife for 15 years,” he said. “When she passed away, I was advised by my attorney that I could take some of the things that we had accumulated over those years. It had been my home since about 2009.”
Kane said charges were filed against him, but he intends to fight the charges.
“This article has hurt my reputation in town, and the report was not totally accurate,” Kane said. “I want it to be known that I am fighting these charges. It was not a house burglary. I was taking my own stuff.”
