Dear Editor,
On August 24, 2023, about 4:30 a.m. I was exiting my restroom when I passed out and fell face first onto my bedroom floor. Evidently, this triggered my cervical stenosis, and I was unable to move any part of my body except my head. I was taken to the Baptist Memorial Hospital – Yazoo emergency room by ambulance.
For the next 50 days I was in the hospital, all of them in Yazoo City with exception of five. I was operated on at River Oaks in Flowood.
I want to speak about my stay in Yazoo City. The care given me was tremendous. I want you to know of the caring and professional people that are employed there. I am extremely grateful to Nurse Practitioner Leigh Yates for her care. Her gracious attitude and patient outlook are above and beyond great medical care. She is a tremendous person.
The nurses, CNAs, physical and occupational therapist, took care of me in the best possible way. They were encouraging and caring people who seemed to love what they are doing. The lab technicians, housekeeping personnel, case managers, emergency room personnel, X-ray technicians, office personnel, dieticians, and cafeteria personnel were a joy to work with. I wish I could name every one of them, but I am afraid I would leave someone out.
All of them were very helpful to my wife and children who stayed with me during my stay, and they really took care of me when I was unable to help myself. My wife and I developed some good friendships that we will always cherish.
In this day and time when some hospitals get a bad review, I wanted everyone to know how good the people of Baptist Memorial Hospital – Yazoo are, and the dedication to their work and life itself, is outstanding.
Yazoo City is fortunate that we have this hospital and the professionals that work there!
Sincerely,
Gary Andrews
