The Yazoo City Christmas Parade will be held on Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. with “A Parade of Lights” as its theme. Deadline for parade entries will be Friday, Nov. 22.
The city of Yazoo City also announced that there will be no entry fees this year. Forms may be dropped off at City Hall, located at 128 E. Jefferson St. in Yazoo City.
Line up begins at 5 p.m. at First Baptist Church, located off Jackson Ave and Canal Street. Entries may be floats, antique vehicles, automobiles and marching bands. The city also asks that Santa Claus not be included with any entries since there will be a special float specifically for him.
Horse entries should go to Jackson Avenue to the grassy area near Webster Street School.
This year's Christmas Parade will have three categories: Business, Civic and Religious.
Entries throwing candy must put candy in a Ziploc Bag and throw as far into the crowd as possible to ensure the safety of all participants and spectators.
Pastor Thaddeus Williams and John Wallace are also approaching the local community and government entities to accept donations with the hopes of inviting the Mississippi Valley State University Marching Band.
