The Yazoo Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution held its November 20, 2025, meeting at Ricks Memorial Library.
The members signed and wrote notes in 143 Christmas cards that were sent to the Veterans at the Mississippi Veterans Home in Kosciusko and local nursing homes in Yazoo City. A card was received from the Stamps for the Wounded Veterans Organization acknowledging the 360 U.S. Postage Stamps they received from Yazoo Chapter DAR.
From the early days, the National Society DAR’s Handbook for immigrants was used by them to become Naturalized Citizens. The chapter have two members with naturalized daughter-in-laws. Ava Hale’s is Maria Hale from Honduras and Marilyn Jones’ is Iya Khelm Price from Russia.
The program was given by Sue Patterson, Yazoo Chapter Regent. She spoke on the 250th Anniversary of the first American navy, the Continental Navy, established on October 15, 1775. A film about the Continental Navy was also shown.
