Yazoo County voters will head to the polls next week for local school board and judicial posts, as well as a congressional seat.
The general election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 8, with polls open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Yazoo County Circuit Clerk Robert Coleman said the last opportunity to vote in-person at his office in the Yazoo County Courthouse is Saturday, Nov. 5, from 8 a.m. until noon. Absentee ballots must also be received by his office postmarked prior to the election.

Also, within the county school board, the District 1 post has only one candidate with newcomer Etta Saxton. Former board member Chastity Magyar will be vacating that post.

Within the congressional race, Republican challenger Brian Flowers will appear on the ballot against incumbent Democrat Bennie Thompson.
A sample ballot appears on page three of this edition of The Yazoo Herald.
