A Yazoo City man died from gunshot wounds in what police officials believe was an ambush shooting at a local apartment complex last weekend.
Andrew Jackson, 28, suffered from two gunshot wounds after a deadly shooting at Yazoo Estates apartment complex around 4 a.m. last Saturday.
Police Chief Terry Gann said no arrests have been made as of press time, but there are a few people of interest as the investigation continues.
“It definitely appears to have been an ambush shooting,” Gann said.
Gann said his department received a call of shots fired at the local apartment complex during last Saturday’s early morning hours.
“As one officer pulled into the complex, he radioed in that shots were still being fired,” Gann said. “He couldn’t tell where the shots were coming from because it appeared to have been coming from behind an apartment building.”
Gann said three individuals inside a vehicle had pulled into the complex with Jackson being the driver.
“As they entered the complex, someone opened fire upon the vehicle,” Gann said. “The driver (Jackson) was struck twice.”
The other passengers were not injured, Gann added.
Gann urges the public to call the police department at 662-746-1131 with any information that could assist in the investigation.
