City schools enter state contract for superintendent search

Attendance remains a problem in city schools

In the Nov. 12 Yazoo City school board meeting, Interim Superintendent Lucille Lovette said that one of the district's major concerns is seeing that the students come to school on a regular basis. One of the biggest problems in the district is the school district's average daily attendance report to the Mississippi Education Department.

PSC will continue charging late fees

In spite of pleas from a former Yazoo City alderman, the Yazoo City Public Service Commission's Board of Commissioners voted Tuesday to retain the three percent late fee on delinquent accounts until the matter could receive further consideration during preparations for the FY2017 budget.

County schools remain on solid financial ground

The Yazoo County School District continues to be on solid financial ground, as evidenced by the financial report Financial Officer Lisa Worthy gave to the school board Tuesday.

“Our fund balance is $4,337,510.97,” Worthy said of the September financials. “That's up about $890,000 in September of the prior year.”
