Three arrests have been made in connection to Yazoo City’s most recent deadly shooting, including one suspect charged with murder.
Johnathan Townsend was charged with murder in connection to the shooting death of Abieon Earl Taylor.
And Deandra Johnson and Demarcus Ray were charged with accessory after the fact and tampering with evidence.
Police Chief Terry Gann said the murder case is still an active investigation, adding that more arrests could follow.
Yazoo County Coroner Ricky Shivers said Taylor, 20, of Yazoo City, was pronounced dead by Pafford medics on the scene from a gunshot wound on April 23.
Shivers said the shooting occurred near the intersection of Charles and West First Street around 11 p.m. He said shots were fired upon a vehicle with Taylor being a passenger.
"Another passenger of the vehicle was also struck and transported to the local hospital," Shivers said, in a previous interview. "He has since been transferred to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, and I am unaware of his condition at this time."
