Yazoo County Lady Panthers fall to Belmont

For the past three seasons, the Yazoo County Lady Panthers softball team has suffered first round exits from the MHSAA playoffs.

After securing a game one 1-0 home victory over the Belmont Lady Cardinals last Friday, hopes were high that this would be the year they finally got over the hump.

The Yazoo County Panthers were on the wrong side of a series sweep in their opening round playoff matchup against the Belmont Cardinals.

The Panthers dropped Game 1, 4-0, but were on the brink of forcing a decisive Game 3 before some late-game heorics saved the Cardinals in Game 2, giving them a victory and the series win.

Yazoo County softball rallies for 4-3 victory

The Yazoo County softball team picked up a walkoff win against the Mendenhall Tigers, 4-3. With the game tied at three in the bottom of the seventh, Minley Crozier singled to left field to score Anna Leal from second base. YCHS coach Grant Andrews praised his team on not giving up and finding a way to win.
