A Yazoo County man with multiple warrants for his arrest turned himself into authorities last week.
William Ellzey, 20, was charged with trespassing, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and burglary of an automobile.
Sheriff Jeremy McCoy said his department received a report that Ellzey allegedly pulled a weapon on someone, who reported it to the authorities.
“Looking into it, we realized there were warrants for his arrest for trespassing and even connected to some burglaries in Bentonia,” McCoy said. “The case kept getting bigger and bigger.”
Upon looking for the suspect, McCoy said Ellzey fled from law enforcement in the Clubview area. However, he said Ellzey turned himself into authorities the next day.
Ellzey has a length criminal history with local law enforcement. About three months ago, he was charged with aggravated assault in connection with a shooting that left one victim with non-life-threatening injuries on Ingram Road. He was also charged with commercial burglary in 2022.
