A Yazoo County man remains behind bars with no bond after he allegedly shot and killed his mother last weekend.
Tracey Wardley, 19, is charged with murder in the shooting death of his mother during the early morning hours last Sunday at a home on Ridge Road.
Yazoo County Coroner Ricky Shivers said Deidra Jenkins, 49, was pronounced dead on the scene by paramedics. Shivers said her cause of death was from a gunshot wound to the head.
Chief Deputy Terry Gann, with the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department, said the suspect drove to his father’s home in Vicksburg following the incident.
“His father actually brought him to us after he arrived at his home,” Gann said. “The suspect was provided with a lawyer and hasn’t really made much of a statement to us yet. Everything is still under investigation, and we haven’t been able to determine a motive at this time.”
Wardley was denied bond by a Yazoo County judge Monday.
“We are investigating the history behind the scene of the crime, the suspect and the victim,” Gann said. “We are looking at everything from previous reports to any possible criminal history.”
